John Castillo was very involved in the Mexican-American movement. He was a member of the Harris County PASO (Political Association of Spanish Speaking Organizations), and was made recording secretary in 1967. Castillo was involved with voter registration and Project VER (Voter Education Registration), which was a project to get people out to vote.
